September 1, 2007--

The Disabilities Network of Eastern CT (DNEC), will hold their fourth annual Flea Market and Community Awareness Day on September 16, from 10:00 to 3:00, in the parking lot located at 238 West Town St. across from the road to the Norwich Defenders’ baseball field, in the Yantic section of Norwich.

Over 75 varied vendors are expected, along with food, fun, and community agencies providing services for both adults and children, including the American School of the Deaf, which will provide free hearing testing; representatives of the Norwich Police Department, who will provide information on victim advocacy and the DARE program; Senior Resources, the Area Agency on Aging for the eastern region, who will provide information about services to senior citizens; CRIS Radio, which records books and other printed materials for individuals who are blind; and several other agencies within our community.  Fun for kids and adults will include a clown, who will distribute free balloons and candy; free face painting; and a tarot reader, who will read for donations to the agency.

Many local businesses have donated goods for raffles, silent auctions, and free drawings.  Admission is free and free parking is available both on-site and nearby, and a portable restroom will be available.  If you have any questions, please call Jodi at DNEC at 823-1898.
