The Independent Living Philosophy

The independent living philosophy believes that barriers to inclusion are largely societal and attitudinal. We provide services to individuals with significant disabilities for the purpose of them making informed choices about how they live their lives.
The goal being the integration and full inclusion into the community. Independent living centers are consumer controlled, community based and community responsive. Independent living centers provide four care services: Information and Referral, Advocacy, Peer counseling, Independent Living Skills.
